What's In My Bag, Part Two...

Most men carry some sort of bag these days. I just call mine a handbag to be funny, especially since it's from the men's line (@Coach). Other wise I rock a neutral coloured backpack through out the week. Here is a sneak peek inside my little guy with a few prized possessions mixed in. Enjoy!

(starting from left, counter clockwise)
1. Estee Lauder pouch
2. Emergency health aides
3. Measuring tape
4. soft & hard candy
5. headphones
6. a combo lock
7. an emergency cell phone battery
8. cologne sample
9. instant oatmeal packet, yummy!
10. checkbook for emergencies
11. mini toothbrush & tooth paste
12. Tide 2 Go pen, hand creme, sanitizer, and mini brush
13. velvet slippers
14. chewing gum, usb, class binder
15. "the key"...

Break Down: Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week Tracy Reese Spring 2011

It's almost that time of year again, Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week! Last season showed some really great stuff, but I kept it simple seeing as it was my year returning to school for my bachelor's degree.

Simple for me is attending one show, and that being my mentor, Miss Tracy Reese. This delivery hits stores in just a few weeks and is destined to fly off shelves. With sheer fabrics, a focus on easy dressing, and that pop of neon that is so important right now, what girl doesn't want the Tracy Reese look?
Supermodel Selita Ebanks (twitter: @MsSelitaEbanks taking interviews front of house after the show. And a quick picture of the corporate office before heading to the Lincoln Center to take my seat and enjoy the show!
Models caught mid action doing their final run through of the collection, while the audience applauds...
Sheer layers, and that pop of neon that I aforementioned, with a sneak peek sketch of Tracy's (twitter: @Tracy_Reese) fall 2012 collection.
Check out these really cool guys and dolls I spotted backstage at the Lincoln Center.
Rumi of http://www.fashiontoast.com/ her blog is dope
Curran J. Swint of http://kingsruletogether.com/ is a personal favorite
And my home girl T-Boz of TLC, just kidding Nytia Baker of Macy's

"If I Was You I'd Hate Me Too"! -Lil Kim

There are not enough hours in the days! I thought the conversion from fashion assistant to fashion student would be seamless, but it has been anything but. My new friend Cryspy, has been having my back thankfully, but that is not enough. Faith and hard work are the name of the game. Along with that I have had enough to keep me busy outside of classes. Events, homework, photo shoots, you name it...
Check out my home girl Mohan Jean Mary, professional hair stylist, at a photo shoot we did recently in Manhattan. She has worked for Essence magazine and a few celebrities...

In between classes, literally, I assisted budding wardrobe stylist Caprice Taylor, on the emerging artist Jabari Gray's music video for "Been Around the World". Follow them on twitter!
Oh, and I did mention that I am the Special Events coordinator for BRAG F.I.T. now?

"There Goes Your Social Life". -Dionne in Clueless

I am officially a college junior and am all the more thankful for it. I have officially earned my striped and am still healing from them, yes that was a reference to slavery.

The transition from the "real world" back to college life has not been an easy one. So much for cute outfits, scheduling meetings, and morning tea. All of that last part was embellished none the less, but you know what I mean.

So much is available at my college the Fashion Institute of Technology and I would be a fool to not seize it. That juxtaposed with my spiritual walk makes for a serious headache though, but GOD is good and he did make a way. In the words of June Ambrose, stay tuned...

The curriculum 5th semester at F.I.T. is not a joke, but what does not kill you, makes you (Nicki Minaj voice) a monster!
And, I was even blessed with a seat to my mentor's spring 2012 show, Tracy Reese

Check out my new digs, flaming hot Cheetos, plantain chips, and a cable knit throw pillow, LoL...

Recently I took a trip to the sunshine state to visit some loved ones and catch some rest from that job of mine. You do realize that I successfully produced three fashion shows over the course of two months, not an easy fete. This vacation was well deserved and was filled with meals from my mother, goodies from from my sister, and attitude from my two nieces.
I had to try on these glasses, they were so Tracy Reese Spring 2011.
Believe it or not, Florida has a Park Avenue, that houses some really good spots.

Just Another Day Around the Way...

"I love my job, I love my job, I love my job"- Emily Blunt in The Devil Wears Prada

My current gig is one that I truly do enjoy and mean the previous quote minus the reference to a movie synonymous with a boss from well, hell. My days off from work are usually the same, but today was different, (cue Law & Order music)...
The day was spent perusing the racks at Bloomingdale's trying on everything from Alexander McQueen to Michael Kors. However, this time I had more of an incentive to buy since my little friends at work were kind enough to bestow me with a girt card. Oh, and if you must know I purchased the Marc by Marc Jacobs wanna be, second from left.
After that I took a walk down St. Mark's Place to buy a slice of pizza for catch this, $1.00 a slice at 2 Bros. Pizza. I kid you not, and the pepperoni was $1.25. Now that is what's up!
Before heading home, I had to be ghetto and throw shade, I mean say "hello" to fellow alumni of F.I.T. who were to broke to buy a computer and check their e-mail from home. Let me stop, I just happened to arrive about 3 hours early for the Christian Club's "Faith and Fashion" panel. it was dope and really taught me something. Please see below.

1. Tear inspiration from GOD.
2. Pursue your dreams humbly.
3. While in school build honest relationships, work hard, and then rest.
4. Have a clean spirit and live freely.
5. Lead your business with integrity.

What Is In Your Man Bag?

It truly is a blessing to be what some would consider a metrosexual, when really you are just a gentleman. In other words a good game of bloody knuckles from time to time is fun, but your patent leather Calvin Kleins are always shined and silk pocket square is in tow at work and social outings. However, people still wonna know, what is in your "man bag". Please see below.

1. Nivea Creme for dry knuckles
2. headphones for internships
3. Bath & Body Works "Candy Corn" scented hand sanitizer
4. fold out subway map from FIT
5. Orbit White chewing gum
6. writing implements; pen, pencils, highlighter
7. boar's hair brush, yes beau!
8. pocket pack of tissues
9. Nutri- Grain strawberry flavored granola bar
10. Estee Lauder or Louis Vuitton satchel to hold it all?

New Year. New Me. Nevermind.

Some time ago, I think it was the turn of the new year, I came across a really cool post on a blog that I like to read. It basically stated that instead of making new year's resolution that will go out of the window faster than lip gloss from the dollar store, why not just make an inspiration board instead.

The purpose of the inspiration board is to serve as a visual aid and reminder of what you truly want in life and why its important. So far I have not been doing too bad. Then again I have not opened that savings account in order to save for my trip to Paris.

Have you created an inspiration board yet? And if so, what are your plans for the new year and beyond? Feel free to let me know as I am always willing to help someone out, between the hours of 9am and never. Just kidding...

The Coldest Winter Ever...

This is the first Christmas I was unable to board the plane to Florida for Christmas, return a revived, and well dressed New Yorker. I guess you could consider this my first "adult" holiday, as work came first. I mean my job title has the word assistant in it, oh well. There is always the summer, or a quickie sometime in January...
Check out my new hairstyle. I was inspired by modern black models, oops, there goes my secret.
Praise the Lord for computers! I have been able to do video chat with these monkeys, um my kids, everyday.
On the positive and materialistic side, my boss got me such a cute gift, Ralph Lauren socks, holler!

StyleSTAR Loves the Kidz...

These past few years I have been doing my best to help others and put a smile on the faces of random people. A good friend of mine was over in India recently working as a missionary so that the young children over there could learn about GOD. Me on the other hand, was here in New York working with my church Brooklyn Tabernacle to put together boxes that will be received by little kids over seas on Christmas morning. Ever heard of "Project Christmas Child"?

After choosing a gender and age, hygiene products, games, and toys are placed in a shoe box.
Each sponsor is asked to write a little note and provide $7 to cover the cost of postage.
A rubber band is placed on the box and placed next to my goodies purchased for the family.
