Phillip Lim Opens New Store in Los Angeles

(LOS ANGELES) Robertson Boulevard was brimming with stylish scenesters on Wednesday night at the one-year anniversary of the 3.1 Phillip Lim boutique in West Hollywood. Rachel Bilson and Vogue hosted the bash, and guests including Rachel Zoe, Molly Sims, Eve, Shenae Grimes, Leona Lewis, Jessica Capshaw, Willa Holland, Maggie Q, Cameron Silver, Lawren Howell, Marlien Rentmeester, Booth Moore, George Kotsioupoulos, Jasmine Shokrian and Jessica Paster turned out to toast the talented designer and pay homage to his chic, modern store.

After a whirlwind first year on the west coast, the boutique has so far remained resilient despite the downward spiraling retail market. "It's doing the best it can in this given climate," explained Phillip Lim. "In a strange way, it makes everyone more honest. We just go back to instinct and talent, and that carries the line.

"Tonight, I wanted to create a summer celebration with Rachel [Bilson], who is the epitome of a local hometown girl, and who just so happens to be a pretty major movie star. We've got a private concert by my favorite band in the entire world, The Duke Spirit...you can't ask for anything more, right?" beamed the designer.

While attendees crowded into the expansive courtyard for the concert, Lim personally walked Kristen Bell and Bilson through the space while recommending several separates.

"All of Phillip's clothes are just so beautiful! There isn't a single piece of his that I wouldn't wear. I just got this new jacket that goes with absolutely everything. The best thing about his designs are that they are always comfortable and still manage to look incredibly fashion-forward," Bilson enthused, eyeing a pair of high-waist grey trousers. Not far off, Grimes lingered in the store and avoided the crowds, explaining, "I don't personally own anything of his yet, but maybe one day soon...!" she said, with a wink in her eye. "I first heard about his line when I interned at Fashion Television, a Canadian fashion network, a few years ago. I love his designs because they accentuate a woman's features and they make you feel beautiful. They give you shape, even if you don't have one!" she laughed.

Immediately following the big bash, a small group of Phillip's favorite VIP fans gathered at nearby Cecconi's on Melrose for an intimate celebratory sit-down dinner, hosted by Vogue. Lisa Love, decked out in a sequined gold top accessorized with black sunglasses, toasted the L.A.-native designer. 'You are one of the most extraordinary designers we've had in L.A. in a long, long time. Welcome home!" Without missing a beat, Lim raised his champagne glass and proudly rallied, "West Coast represent!"
