The Couture Council of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology will be personally handing its annual honor to Karl Lagerfeld in September. He will also be in town for Fashion's Night Out, and manage to still show his three collections for Chanel, Fendi, and Lagerfeld on time. According to Valerie Steele, the museum’s director, “He is not just incredibly respected within the fashion world, but also known to everybody and instantly recognizable.” And though they do honor a designer every year, this year they’ve named a special award, the Fashion Visionary.
So in other words, you envious, yet still unambitious design students, eat your heart out.
